Book Review: The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin S. Sharma

The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari: A Fable About Fulfilling Your Dreams and Reaching Your Destiny by Robin S. Sharma
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"There is nothing noble about being superior to some other person; true nobility lies in being superior to your former self."

The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma is a self-help book in the personal development category. It tells the story of a young lawyer who, despite living a seemingly ideal life—complete with a red Ferrari—finds himself exhausted and unhappy. Seeking meaning and fulfillment, he turns to a senior lawyer for advice. This mentorship sparks his journey of self-improvement, which becomes the heart of the story.

Throughout the book, there are many thought-provoking lines that encourage readers to pause and reflect. One quote that stood out to me was: “I too have walked this path, my friend. I too have felt the pain you have felt. Yet I have learned that everything happens for a reason.” Lines like this make the book worth reading, as they offer insights that feel almost universal.

However, while the quotes and lessons are engaging, I found the story itself less interesting. At times, it felt repetitive, as though the author was stretching the same points across multiple passages. As a self-help book, it’s effective, but if you’re looking for a captivating story, it may not be as satisfying.
